{"id":26960986,"date":"2010-08-31T03:57:00","date_gmt":"2010-08-31T03:57:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/joshdance.me\/isys-or-information-systems-first-day"},"modified":"2010-08-31T03:57:00","modified_gmt":"2010-08-31T03:57:00","slug":"isys-or-information-systems-first-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/joshdance.me\/blog\/isys-or-information-systems-first-day\/","title":{"rendered":"ISYS! or Information Systems First Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today I started my real major. &nbsp;Like for reals. &nbsp;I am now an official Information Systems student and I have the bag to prove it. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p \/>\n<div>\n<div class='p_embed p_image_embed'><a href=\"http:\/\/joshdance.me\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/campus_panoramic-scaled10001.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Campus_panoramic\" height=\"214\" src=\"http:\/\/joshdance.me\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/campus_panoramic-scaled10001.jpg?w=300\" width=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p \/>\n<div>We already have homework, which is to be expected. &nbsp;The Junior Core is notoriously hard.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p \/>\n<div>Here&#8217;s what I learned.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p \/>\n<div>-Systems Analysis is understanding and specifying what a system should accomplish. &nbsp;I thought analysis was just trouble shooting but it is much more.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p \/>\n<div>-System Boundary is the separation between the system and its environment that inputs and outputs need to cross.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p \/>\n<div>I can&#8217;t help it. When I think of systems I think of the cartoon Reboot that I used to watch with it&#8217;s boundaries, and inputs and outputs and users. &nbsp;<\/div>\n<p \/>\n<div>[youtube http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=BMKgPPxV3fU?wmode=transparent]<\/div>\n<p \/>\n<div>One thing that also stood out to me is that back in the old days, ever business needed a sales guy. &nbsp;You have to sell things to make money and survive. &nbsp;Now, every business needs an Information Systems guy. You can&#8217;t survive now without a website, internal web apps, systems and automation. &nbsp;Everyone else has them, you need to use them or get left behind.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p \/>\n<div>All in all, I am excited to be jumping into my real major. &nbsp;<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today I started my real major.
