iPad – yes and no

So I got to try out the iPad. It is fun to use. I lived the book feel and just the fact that it is a huge iPhone. I had no trouble typing on it. I am used to the virtual keyboard from the iPhone but I found it quite natural to type with all my fingers not just the thumbs.

Yes – want one and am probably going to buy one.

No – it is not just a huge iPod touch. The iPad fits somewhere between a laptop and an iPhone.

Too many Updates! – the need for a unified updater

Media_httpimgskitchco_weehc

It may be noted that I am not quite the typical iPhone or Mac users.  I download just about any App that looks interesting.  But this is getting ridiculous.  I can not go a day, without getting prompted to update or download an update.  So I decided to track which apps and when I was prompted to update.

The stats are this.  One month. 39 updates.  Over 1 a day.

I don't know what the solution is but something has to happen.

I propose an integrated platform for all updates.  I can then once a month view all the apps (iPhone and Mac included) that need updating and can approve all at once any and all updates.

For the curious here are the apps and days.

iPhone App to replace Blackboard

Here is a mock up I did for my Digital Communications class. The original ad is for CookMate, an awesome app that recently launched.

Iphonead

The idea is to create a mobile educational software system that pulls in all the services that students and teachers already use to communicate and collaborate.

A 90 dollar iPhone App?

I was looking at the new “Highest Grossing” section of the iPhone app store and found this beauty. Scary thing is some people have actually put down 90 bucks. For an app that gives you directions on a smartphone that has Google Maps pre installed?!

Maybe I just need more money.

I Am T-Pain initial reaction

This app is fun. Seriously. I actually sing and this app is still fun. Also the reason I haven’t posted a song yet because I don’t feel i made one good enough.

Some of my initial thoughts are…
Everything is easy to do. Well thought out.

PhotoPhoto_2Photo_3Photo_4

Typical of Smule they have options to use the “T-Pain” auto tune or customize it according to minor major and key.

I noticed in the tutorial that there are songs not in the final version that are in the screen shot. (Thug Story)

This app would be perfect of you could upload your own tracks to song over the top of.

I Am T-Pain

So I just downloaded this app. And it is hilarious. So funny. And in true Smule fashion there is slick integration to facbook and you can email the tracks you record.

I’ll post some of my “songs” later.

Now you can Auto tune everything.
