Facebook Pages can Now Publish to Fans Based on Location and Language

This is big.  It gives people with facebook fan pages a way to target messages to fans.  I have recieve messages sometimes for an event that is in Las Vegas and I am in Seattle.  These are only slightly annoying, but after a hundred of them… This will give brands to opportunity to control and tweak messages for specific groups of people.

Great Marketing Through Twitter

I saw a Tweet about getting free software, so I checked out this link.  

By tweeting about the deal, you get a free copy of Voices for the Mac.

You enter your Twitter name, send out your tweet, and then they show you the avatars of everyone else who had done the same thing.  

Pretty slick and easy marketing.  A great example of how to use social media in your marketing efforts.

SimpleSlice Web Marketing

I went to the SimpleSlice presentation today put on by the BYU Marketing Club.  It was pretty good.  It would have been awesome for people who are not really into the Web 2.0, social media, scene.  However, I worked for Fresh Consulting (http://www.freshconsulting.com/) over the summer so I was pretty well exposed to this stuff. 

I did learn about a couple of cool new tools.

tweetfeel.com tries to figure out if tweets about any topic are positive or negative. 

It didn't give me results on several subjects that suprised me (nothing on Obama? really?) but it was another data point to use.

How to Train Your Dragon

I’ve been posting a lot of movies lately, maybe because there are actually some good movies coming out.
