Facebook isn’t know for having the best user interface design. But they showed off a nifty trick to highlight Places on the iPhone. Nicely done Facebook.

Apps are taking over the world.
With all the talk about the web declining and the "app" model changing everything I have been noticing "apps" talking over the role of traditional programs more and more.
I recently bought an iPhone 4 and decided to get me free bumper. So I looked up how to get it. I thought it would be a rebate or a phone number or application. Guess what. It was an app.
You download an app and pick your case. How brilliant is that? You have to have the iPhone 4 to run the app so you automatically qualify.
Long live the app!

Initial Ping Thoughts: half a thumbs up
Ping is good but needs to be rapidly iterated. People rag on Facebook all the time but they have one things going for them. They keep putting out new features and tweaking things.
Apple can't afford to have a "social network" that is updated once every year. It is not a software package now. It is Apple's most visible service yet. .Mac is notorious for staggnation. I hope Ping does not follow suite.
And so without further waiting. My Ping reactions.
