Oscar Nominations – are these really the best movies?

So the Oscar nominations came out.  I don't know if this is news, cause I don't care super much.  But I noticed something as I was looking at list.

From recent research on R-rated movies we know that PG rated movies make WAY more money.  So why does Hollywood consistently create movies that are full of violence, sex, and vulgarity? It isn't a business decision.

  1. Hollywood is a bunch of hocus pocus. It’s all about "the art". I’d venture to say that fewer than 10% of movie goers actually see the "best" picture each year. If it’s the best, people would line up to see it! Heck, people line up to see the Mona Lisa. Most of the "best" pictures in recent years will be long forgotten.Forget the Oscars… Rotten Tomatoes is a much better place to play.
